An A-Z list of our skincare Ingredients

Here at London Organic, our ingredients are all vegan, cruelty-free and sourced ethically. All our skincare is free from parabens, sulphates and petrochemicals. Each ingredient we use has been carefully chosen to nourish and restore your skin so that it can thrive.

Hopefully, this list will help break down what these ingredients are, so you can understand what goes into making your favourite skincare products and how they benefit your skin.


 

A

  • Argan Oil 
    Argan Oil has been shown to promote healing, increase hair strength and even help breakouts. It also reduces oiliness, inflammation and aids in the protection of photodamage.

    It works well for all skin types but is particularly beneficial for dry, ageing, or acne-prone skin.

    We use Argan Oil in our Facial Gold Elixir and our Brow, Lash and Nail Serum.


    • Arrowroot

      Arrowroot provides relief to irritated skin and acne. Additionally, it has been shown to improve skin texture, reduce oiliness and bring a natural glow to your complexion due to its anti-irritant and anti-inflammatory qualities.

      We use Arrowroot in our Sweet Orange Whipped ButterHand Salve and Body Salve.

       

      B

      • Bergamot Oil

      Bergamot Oil contains antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and oil-reducing properties. These all help with hyperpigmentation, blemishes, and scars. The Oil also soothes and tones your complexion to keep skin looking youthful without stripping it.

      Bergamot Oil is great for oily skin as it helps to unclog pores and balance sebum levels to get skin glowing.

      We use Bergamot Oil in our Facial Gold Elixir.

      • Calendula Oil

      Calendula Oil helps skin look smooth and radiant, helping to improve the appearance of dull skin, fine lines and uneven skin tone and texture. It also has antifungal, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial properties. These can help to heal sores and soothe eczema, redness and swelling.

      Calendula Oil is suitable for all skin types, especially sensitive, damaged, or irritated skin.

      We use Calendula Oil in our Body Salve.

       

      • Candelilla Wax

      Candelilla Wax is a complex of natural wax esters derived from the waxy leaf structure of the Candelilla shrub. It is used in balms as a vegan substitute for beeswax. It has anti-inflammatory properties and supports collagen production, which helps to soothe dry or ageing skin, minimise stretch marks, and improve hydration.

      We use Candelilla Wax in our Hand Salve and our Body Salve.

       

      • Castor Oil

      Castor Oil has been shown to speed up cellular repair and is good for hair growth. It is full of fatty acids that hydrate and make flaky skin feel softer, as well as antioxidants that protect the skin from collagen loss or wrinkles.

      It works well for all skin types but is particularly beneficial for dry or mature skin. It is also great for thinning or sparse eyebrows and eyelashes by helping to condition and thicken the hairs.

      We use Castor Oil in our Facial Gold Elixir and our Brow, Lash and Nail Serum.

       

      • Chamomile Oil

      Chamomile is an anti-inflammatory that calms and soothes irritation, making it good to treat acne and eczema. It has skin repairing, regenerating, and strengthening properties, which in turn keeps your skin young and refreshing. As well as aiding relaxation, helping you feel your best.

      It is particularly good for sensitive or irritated skin.

      We use Chamomile Oil in our Body Salve.

       

      • Cocoa Butter

      Cocoa butter is extracted from cocoa seeds and is high in antioxidants, which help fight ageing skin, dark patches, and dullness. It is also high in fatty acids and acts as a rich moisturiser to hydrate the skin, keep it soft, and combat stretch marks and scars.

      It is particularly good for sensitive or irritated skin, as well as for someone with eczema or dermatitis.

      We use Cocoa Butter in our Hand Salve and our Body Salve.

       

      • Coconut Oil

      Coconut Oil helps to nourish and hydrate the skin and hair. It contains high antibacterial and antioxidant properties to reveal a healthier complexion. Its fatty acids also help to lock in moisture. It is a gentle and mild, nutrient-rich cleansing agent making it suitable for dry and sensitive skin types.

      We use Coconut Oil in our Facial Gold Elixir and our Brow, Lash and Nail Serum.

      • Eucalyptus Oil

      Eucalyptus oil has been shown to soothe dry and flaky skin, as it gives intense hydration and locks in moisture to ensure skin is well-nourished. It also has anti-inflammatory properties to aid with both acne and eczema.

      We use Eucalyptus in our Hand Salve.

      • Geranium Oil

      Geranium Oil is high in antioxidants and amino acids, which keeps hair strong and healthy. It also has antibacterial and soothing anti-inflammatory properties to improve skin health.

      We use Geranium Oil in our Brow, Lash and Nail Serum.

       

      • Gold Leaf

      Gold Leaf has been shown to improve blood circulation, which creates a beautiful luminescence and gives a radiant glow to the skin. It also stimulates collagen and improves skin elasticity for a smoother, firmer-looking complexion.

      We use Gold Leaf in our Facial Gold Elixir.


       

      • Grape Seed Oil

      Grape Seed Oil is a powerful moisturiser with potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that fight breakage. It is light and gentle and cleanses the skin to remove daily impurities, like the build-up of excess oil, while strengthening the skin's natural resilience.

      We use Grape Seed Oil in our Sweet Orange Whipped ButterFacial Gold Elixir and Brow, Lash and Nail Serum.

      • Jojoba Oil

      Jojoba Oil is a lightweight yet hydrating oil which softens, restores, and maintains healthy skin. It is naturally full of antioxidants, omegas and vitamins, which help diminish the appearance of wrinkles and reduce inflammation. It also provides deep hydration without leaving a greasy residue.

      We use Jojoba Oil in our Lip Sugar Scrub.

      • Lavender Oil

      Lavender Oil can help lessen acne and discolouration as it unclogs pores and reduces inflammation. It can also combat redness and irritation making it good for someone with eczema, as its antifungal properties keep eczema at bay. Additionally, Lavender Oil also stimulates hair growth.

      We use Lavender Oil in our Brow, Lash and Nail SerumHand Salve and Body Salve.

      • Mango Seed Butter

      Mango butter is an effective moisturiser that helps soften dry skin. It is a great anti-ageing agent with antioxidants that protect the skin from free radicals. It also contains salicylic acid and antioxidants, which are known to protect the skin from sun damage.

      We use Mango Seed Butter in our Sweet Orange Whipped Butter.

      • Olive Oil

      Olive Oil is rich in Vitamins A and E, as well as antioxidants, which protects the skin from external factors such as sun damage. It also protects and hydrates even the most sensitive skin and helps combat ageing.

      It is good for chapped, dry, mature, and sensitive skin, as it protects against the elements and helps the skin retain its moisture. 

      We use Olive Oil in our Lip Sugar Scrub.

      • Passionflower Seed Oil

      Passionflower Seed Oil contains linoleic acid, which helps restore the barrier function and reduce scaling on the skin. It has a light and thin consistency, protecting and nourishing without being too heavy or clogging, making it perfect for oily skin types. It also helps treat dry hair as it is lighter than other oils.

      We use Passionflower Seed Oil in our Brow, Lash and Nail Serum.

       

      • Peppermint Oil

      Peppermint oil naturally cleanses the skin and has antiseptic and antibacterial properties. It has a cooling effect that soothes irritation and inflammation. It also heals cracked lips; the cooling effect helps sun-burnt or wind-chapped lips.

      We use Peppermint Oil in our Lip Sugar Scrub.

      • Raspberry Seed Oil

      Raspberry Seed Oil is a nourishing and lightweight oil. It is high in essential fatty acids and antioxidants, this oil hydrates and protects the skin.

      We use Raspberry Seed Oil in our Brow, Lash and Nail Serum.


       


      • Rosehip Oil

      Rosehip Oil is packed full of anti-inflammatory fatty acids and Vitamins A and C. These work to strengthen and reinforce the skin barrier, which helps to lock in moisture, brighten the skin, and reduce the appearance of marks.

      It works well for most skin types but is particularly good for anyone looking to fade scars, boost glow, and firm skin.

      We use Rosehip Oil in our Facial Gold Elixir and our Brow, Lash and Nail Serum.

       

      • Rosemary Oil

      Rosemary oil deeply hydrates the skin, which helps to control oil production. Using it regularly can help eliminate flaking and dryness as well as treat eczema. Its antibacterial properties also mean it is good for acne and oily skin types. Additionally, its antioxidant properties help reduce the signs of ageing, tightening the skin to help it look firmer and more youthful.

      We use Rosemary Oil in our Hand Salve.

      • Sea Buckthorn Oil

      Sea Buckthorn Oil is a luxurious oil rich in Vitamins A and E. It has been shown to boost collagen, improve skin elasticity, and combat damage from everyday pollution. It can also help with hyperpigmentation, prevent moisture loss, and decrease fine lines and wrinkles.          

      We use Sea Buckthorn Oil in our Sweet Orange Whipped Butter.

       

      • Sunflower Seed Oil

      Sunflower Seed Oil is highly absorbent, will not clog pores, and is non-irritating. It contains Vitamin E which helps protect the skin from premature ageing and wrinkles. It also contains linoleic acid which helps maintain the skins natural barrier, supporting its ability to retain moisture.

      We use Sunflower Seed Oil in our Hand Salve and our Body Salve.

       

      • Sweet Almond

      Sweet Almond Oil is naturally high in Vitamins A and E, which helps heal and repair the skin. It also protects the skin cells from environmental pollutants and oxidative stress.

      It works well for most skin types but is particularly good for dry skin, as it helps prevent dehydration by reducing moisture loss.

      We use Sweet Almond Oil in our Lip Sugar ScrubHand Salve, and Body Salve.

       

      • Sweet Orange Oil

      Sweet Orange Oil has been shown to increase collagen production, prevent premature ageing and firm the skin. Its antibacterial properties make it great for healing acne. Sweet Orange Oil can also have a calming effect on the mind and body to keep feelings of stress and anxiety to a minimum.

      We use Sweet Orange Oil in our Sweet Orange Whipped Butter and our Brow, Lash and Nail Serum.

       

      T

      • Tea Tree Oil

      This is an anti-microbial, used to promote healthy skin with its soothing and healing properties. The anti-inflammatory effect of tea tree oil helps to soothe and relieve painful and irritated skin. It can also help to reduce redness and swelling.

      It works well for most skin types but is particularly good for dry skin, as it helps reduce itching and irritation.

      We use Tee Tree Oil in our Body Salve.

      • Vitamin E

      Vitamin E is both an antioxidant and an anti-inflammatory, it prevents skin discolouration, helps to fight ageing, and soothes the effects of sun damage. Additionally, it can also help with dry skin, acne, and creates a youthful glow.

      Products with Vitamin E work well for most skin types but are particularly helpful for acne-prone, discoloured, or ageing skin.

      We use Vitamin E in our Sweet Orange Whipped ButterLip Sugar ScrubHand SalveBody Salve, and Brow, Lash and Nail Serum.

      • White Kaolin Clay

      White Kaolin Clay is a gentle cleanser and exfoliator that unclogs pores and removes pollutants and bacteria from your skin. It also helps soothe irritation and redness and even out your skin tone.

      It works well for most skin types but is particularly good for dry or sensitive skin because it is mild.

      We use White Kaolin Clay in our Sweet Orange Whipped Butter.
